In my new quest to visit various bus stations around the country, this next post will feature another in Glasgow, Scotland called Hamilton Interchange, this only has 14 bus stands so not quite as big as that of Buchanan Bus Station which has well over 50 bus stands and 100s of services coming in and out!

I felt that Hamilton was lacking in services having spent about half an hour capturing the different routes and companies coming in out! First bus seems to the majority of local bus services in Hamilton and surrounding areas with other operators like Stuart’s, JMB Travel and Whitelaws providing smaller more unique bus routes in the local area.

Whilst here I didn’t feel very welcome as a bus photographer, being told moved on after getting of a Bus I wanted to photograph a Streetlite parked but for some reason I wasn’t allowed too! I spent most of my time at the entrance of the bus station which leads out onto a main road. It was similar to Buchanan Street Bus Station but no where near as big!

My aim with these posts is to share my thoughts on the different bus stations that I visit and compare them to other bus stations I’ve already been too. The main bus stands where all in a line numbered 1 – 14 so buses generally had to reverse out of each stand to begin there journey to there destination. As I mentioned earlier the main operator here is First bus providing the majority of local bus services and longer distance services to East Kilbride & Glasgow.

I noticed a fair few Wright Streetlite DFs as well as a number of Enviro 400 double deckers and 200 single deckers. From looking at the website it appears that National Experess services used to call here at Hamilton Interchange! There is also a train station attached to the Bus Station called Hamilton Central with services to Glasgow Central, Dalmuir & Lanark!

As you can see a train pulling into Hamilton Central heading towards Dalmuir my time here at Hamilton Bus Station has come to an end, I felt that there just wasn’t enough services or interesting buses here to document and photograph. Before I finish the blog I’ll be sharing some photos of Enviros and Streetlite operated by First bus!

Hamilton Interchange also had segregated passenger walkway with sliding doors protecting passengers from the main area of the Bus Startioj where buses are able to reverse or turn around before starting the next journey! There is also a small area for buses to park up and layover before then continuing on for the next shift which you can see in my next photo!

Sadly I felt that this bus station wasn’t that exciting in terms of. Buses, routes and operators that come in and out of the station. I also felt it was rather awkward to photograph buses near the entrance there’s a lot of blind spots. I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this bus station anytime soon. Do let me know in the comments if you’ve been to Hamilton Interchange or any of the other Bus Stations I’ve visited.
