Today’s adventure started at London Liverpool Street with Greater Anglia catching one of the wonderful Flirt trains to Norwich in Norfolk, I rather enjoyed my ride with Greater Anglia, the Flirt trains are very similar to the Class 777 Trains operating on Merseyrail with the sliding step and step free access as well as the seating layout having steps and various different layouts.

Class 455405 at London Liverpool Street

The route from London Liverpool Street took about 1hr 50 Minutes which I thought was pretty decent for a journey. The stations we called at were as follows: Stratford, Colchester, Manning Tree, Ipswich, Stowmarket, Diss & Our final station of Norwich. I left Liverpool Street at 10:00 arriving into Norwich at 11:50 around ten to 12 in the morning just before lunch time.

Once I arrived at Norwich I then grabbed a Day Ranger for the day which covers places like Cambridge & Ipswich and places like Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and lots more. The ticket cost me about £18 with a Disabled Rail Card, the original price is £29.70 without a Rail Card. Once I got my ticket I then spent some time taking a few photos & getting footage of the outside of the station.

I then took my first train to Lowestoft where I would meet up with my friend James who I went to University with in 2013/2015 studying in Coventry. We’ve stayed friends ever since. I have been to Lowestoft before but never by train so it was nice to finally tick this station off, it is also the most easterly station in the Country with the most northerly being Thurso & most Southern being Penzance station I have been to both those stations.

Once at Lowestoft, we then grabbed a bite to eat at Subway which was nice as I hadn’t had a subway for quite a while at the time of my trip. From Lowestoft I then travelled to my next station of Brundall which I thought was a lovely looking station with a nice footbridge & also staggered platforms. I also took time to enjoy the new Flirt trains by Stadler the Class 755 and 745 Trains operated by Greater Anglia.

Brundall Station

From Brundall Station We then took the train to Great Yarmouth which again is a station I’ve never been to by train, though I have visited the station on foot whilst I had visited my friend a couple of year before. The scenery on this line was just stunning, mostly flat but stunning nonetheless and at one point running parallel to the main road into Great Yarmouth.

We then took a stroll into Great Yarmouth it’s self visiting some of the sights and even trying out the Wheel near the Sea Front, however I wanted to get off after about 5 minutes of being stuck in the air! It really freaked me out. Eventually back on dry land, we then had a wonder round Yarmouth, making our way back to the station which for some unknown reason had a Sand Model of the new 755 Trains built by Stadler.

From here my friend and I then took the train to visit Lingwood Station which again was stunning. This trip wasn’t officially a station ticking off exercise but more of a relaxed enjoyable day out on the trains whilst visiting stations. I really liked Lingwood Station & then we headed to Acle where my friend James had to head back to Norwich to travel back to Lowestoft.

From Acle station my final station before eventually heading to Norwich for my train back to London Liverpool Street. I had such a lovely time exploring what’s called the Wherry Lines, I then realised I probably should have gotten the Wherry Lines day ranger which I believe was a bit cheaper as that is basically what we had covered in my trip.

And finally back at my final station of the day where I Had started my trip in the morning around mid day where back at Norwich where I’ll then take my train back to London Liverpool Street. I had such a wonderful day visiting a few different stations I’ve never been to before. I truly hope that you enjoyed this adventure.
