Hello, in today’s outing I visited Queen Square Bus Station in Liverpool City Centre just next door to St John’s Shopping centre. I arrived at QSBS at around 1500 on 31 March 2025. The weather today turned out really nice and photo’s and videos will look so much better now the weather is getting better.

KX62 JXU – 4851

First of lest start just at the bottom end of Queen Square Bus Station where buses from the Wirral & Southport terminate or continue towards Cook Street not far from James Street Station on the Merseyrail network. This Wright Gemini 2 Hybrid having arrived from West Kirby on the 437 Registered KX62 JXU and its fleet number being 4851.

Another feature here in the heart of Liverpool is known as the Magical Mystery tour where you can tour the places of the Beatles & where lived and based there song’s of like Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields just to name a few. One of my Favourite Beatles songs has to be Come Together!

I Do rather like this bus station as there’s a lot coming in and out of the station from Stagecoach & Arriva which are the main operators service this bus station and also service Liverpool One Bus Station which I didn’t manage to get to sadly. One bus I saw quite a lot of were Enviro 400 Standard Buses from 2014/15 with either 15 Reg or 65 Reg are a prominent bus on the Liverpool Streets.

As you can see quite a common sight here in Liverpool operating on many different services from the 86, 52, 10/10A/10B, 86A/C 75/75A and many more services operated by Arriva North West. I don’t get to ride many of these as I am no longer studying at the Arts Centre in Liverpool near the Philharmonic when we used to have ALX400 Alexander Dennis Decker’s running.

Another common sight although not so much these days were Wright Puslar 2 VDL SB200 Chassis operated by Arriva, tho these have been slowly withdrawn and replaced by the new Enviro 200 MMC Brought in recently by the Metro Mayor Steve Rotherham. The new Enviro 200’s are well equipped as well which I love to see.

As you can see from the 2nd Photo the new Metro Livery part of the new project by Steve Rotherham the Metro Mayor of Liverpool. The idea is to bring back buses into Public Ownership which I believe will be taken place from 2026. Let’s move on from Arriva now and take a look at another operator that’s very much a common sight in Liverpool being Stagecoach.

One common bus being the Enviro 300, entered service around 2009/2010 the Classic Enviro 300 brought in by stagecoach to replace dozens of old Alexander Dennis Dart’s which were rather old at the time. I do rather like the Enviro 300, the interior is basic but functional and the colour scheme is fun, with Red, Blue & Orange.

As you can see recently repainted into the new Stagecoach Livery known as Stagecoach Local, however I recently seen the new new stagecoach livery in Glasgow which is just a dark blue with the Stagecoach Logo at the Rear of the bus.

Another vehicle I have noticed quite a lot of are Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 MMC from 2016/17 & 18 all operating around St Helens & Various other locations in the Liverpool City Region. I am rather enjoying doing these bus station reviews and just checking out the various buses coming in out of each Bus Station.

Here’s a fine example in the now classic stagecoach livery entered service in late 2016 on a 66 Plate seen here operating the 14 to Willow Way. My friend Kieran absolutely love’s these buses so I hope that showing him this within the blog here makes him smile. I do really need to have another day out on the Buses here in Merseyside.
