In today’s adventure, I visit Cardiff for the very first time between 11th / 16th August 2025, whilst I was in Cardiff I took a day out on Transport for Wales with the Valley Lines Day Ranger costing £10.85 with my Disabled Rail Card. It was such a lovely day and the weather was absolutely beautiful. However it was rather warm and my phone at the time kept heating up!

From Cardiff Central I took my first train to Barry Island which is Famous for a certain TV Show called Gavin & Stacey, the show was filmed in various places around Cardiff but Barry is the most familiar as it is where the relationship between Gavin & Stacey Blossomed! I was struck by how lovely the scenery was along the journey and how amazing the Beach was too.
Once I had arrived at Barry Island station, I took some time to wonder down to the Beach & check out some of the Sites like Nessas Slots, Marcos Cafe was also there but rather expensive in terms of buying food or drink, a Coke cost me £2.50! However I spent some time just chilling out looking at the beautiful scenery with the Sea in front of me honestly it was breath taking.

Having spent about an hour at Barry Island beach, I then made my way back to the station to head to Coryton where I would then walk to Radyr Station the whole day was just really enjoyable and I really want to go back to Cardiff again as I really enjoyed my time. I also have some Bus Photo’s from Cardiff Bus Station to share with you here on the blog.
I took a stroll from Coryton station to Radyr, following the path of River it was very foresty with lots of trees lining the River & the path I was walking along. Once I got to the station I took some time to cross the River & Check it out, here is one of the many photos I took on that day.

From Radyr I took the train to Cardiff Central, I had planned to head to Bridgend however my plans changed as my phone was on rather low battery and I chose to enjoy riding the Class 197 to Masteag again it was so much fun just exploring so many new areas I’ve never been before. I really hope that you enjoyed reading about my adventure. I have also set up a NEW Blog where I will be sharing my Every Station series of adventures.
Like this I will be updating it as much as I can and whatever I get to explore lines I’ve never been too or revisit many lines I have visited once before. However let’s get back to the post, the train arrived on time with a few minutes to spare before departing to head up the line towards Measteg the terminus.

And our final train, the journey was smooth and rather enjoyable. I wish I took more photos whilst on the trip however a lot of the line was surrounded by Trees & Shrubbery but otherwise I really enjoyed it. I had originally made a video of the Journey which I was going to share on YouTube however due to one of my videos being found by the many haters I have resulted into this blog again.
But with that said, I do really enjoy writing these blogs & I am planning to bring you many more, I still need to catch up on my Bus Station posts from Manchester, St Helens & Cardiff. I may also write up a blog post from my Trip to Carlisle by Bus as it was a big adventure. Do please drop me a comment & let me know if you have ever visited Cardiff! Thanks again for reading and see you in the next.
