I have visited Ormskirk over a few days and gather some photos from my visits to Ormskirk Railway Station as well as visiting the Bus Stations near by, the bus station is rather unusual as it also has a Car Park right in the middle of the bus station, the stops go around the Carpark and there are five bus stops in total here at Ormskirk it’s a similar size to that of Heswall Bus Station.

Ormskirk Bus Station is quite interesting, offering services to Kirkby, St Helens, Preston, Wigan, and, of course, Liverpool City Centre. The operators include Arriva and Stagecoach, with the occasional Preston Bus on the 312/311, although I wasn’t able to catch these during my visit. Some of these smaller stations receive a relatively poor service compared to the larger ones in city and town centres.

The sunset at the time I arrived at Ormskirk Bus Station was absolutely breathtaking. I captured some lovely sunset photos of the bus stop and the Evora heading to Skelmersdale on the 310, operated by Arriva North West. I had planned to visit Skelmersdale this time, but the bus was so late arriving into Queen Square that by the time I reached Ormskirk, it was 19 minutes late. The bus was originally due in at 15:33.
Ormskirk is also widely known for its transport links, with Merseyrail and Northern serving the local area. Trains run towards Preston every hour and take around 45 minutes from Ormskirk, stopping at places like Burscough Junction, Rufford, and Croston before continuing to Preston and joining the West Coast Mainline.

As I mentioned before, Preston Bus also serve Ormskirk Bus Station but I wasn’t able to get a photo at the Bus Station it’s self, here is one from near Burscough Junction station when I visited every station between Preston & Ormskirk as art of my Every Station series here on my blog. I might consider doing a Journey Review between Ormskirk & Preston riding the 2A operated by Stagecoach.
I also saw another small operator using mini buses to run the number 6 route to Scott Estate. These buses were Mercedes Sprinters with doors similar to those used by A2B Travel on the Wirral Peninsula. I am considering creating a post about A2B Buses and exploring some of the more unique bus routes around the Wirral.

And finally as I end this post, I hope that you have enjoyed me visiting various bus stations around Merseyside and around the UK, I am going to be taking a short break from the series to be able to focus on my other projects like my stations, travel adventures & much more, Do let me know if you have any other Bus Stations you would like to me to visit I would greatly appreciate them.
