On Wednesday, 11th February, I took a trip around the southern part of Liverpool, starting from Liverpool South Parkway, then to John Lennon Airport, and finally returning to Liverpool One Bus Station on the 500. I had a fantastic day exploring the Liverpool area on Arriva buses. Later in the afternoon, I took the 10A towards St Helens and eventually got off at Rainhill.
Starting in Wallasey, I took the 432 to Liverpool Cook Street, where I planned to make my way to Liverpool One Bus Station. My original intention was to catch the 500 to John Lennon Airport; however, I ended up on the 86A towards John Lennon Airport. I then realised that the bus I was actually on used to operate on the 432 back in 2008 when it was first introduced on Cross River services by Arriva Birkenhead.

Taking the 86A towards Liverpool South Parkway, I got off just after South Parkway station to grab a bite to eat, have lunch, and charge my phone. I love a good bus adventure and travelling around on buses, especially those I don’t get to take very often, like the 86A. I used to take that bus to college when I attended the Arts Centre by the Philharmonic.
I then end up catching the 82A towards Runcorn however I alighted at Liverpool John Lennon AirPort where I decided to spend a brief period photographing the Arriva Buses that operate out o the Airport to Liverpool City Centre. There were an interesting variety of buses from Gemini 2s, Enviro 400s and a Pulsar 2, Stagecoach also serve the AirPort but sadly I didn’t see any at this time, I then took the 500 back to Liverpool ONE Bus Station.

I quite like John Lennon Airport. There’s a wide variety of buses to choose from, including the slow stoppers on the 86A and 86 buses operated by Arriva and Stagecoach. You also have the speedy 500, which takes you down the Dock Roads towards Liverpool One. Additionally, there are services to places like Runcorn and Bootle, which go across the city rather than around the bottom end of it.

The Wright Gemini 2 DB300 Chassis were introduced in 2011 to enhance service on the 500 route between Liverpool One Bus Station and John Lennon Airport. In recent years, they have gradually been deployed on other routes such as the 86A, 75, 82, and many more. These Gemini 2s are essentially the double-decker version of the Wright Pulsar 2 SB200, which was once a common sight in Liverpool but has recently been replaced by newer MCV Evora buses for services on the 310 and 300.
Leaving John Lennon Airport, I decided to take the 500 bus all the way back to Liverpool One Bus Station. From there, I took a short walk towards Queen Square to catch the 10A, which would be my final bus of the day, as I headed to the Masquerade for the evening. I really enjoy travelling around Merseyside by bus, and I hope you enjoyed reading and coming along with me too.

Finally catching my last bus of the day, which would take me all the way to Rainhill Station on the City Line, I would then take the train back to Liverpool, as it is slightly quicker than catching the bus. I really enjoyed my day on the buses around Merseyside, and I hope you will join me again for another adventure like this. If you have any other locations or routes you would like me to try out, please let me know.
