Whilst visiting my boyfriend in the North East, I took sometime to head to Middlesbrough to check out its bus Station and I was someone surprised at the layout and the amount of buses serving it! There are a fair few express bus services and like at Buchanan Street a few coach services operated by National Express & Flixbus!
Whilst there I took some time to photograph some of the more unusual uses like the Temsa Avenue buses which serve places like Redcar, Marske & Saltburn. I’m not a fan of these Temsa Avenues I found them rather loud and uncomfortable and just not a pleasant or enjoyable ride. I also noticed some rather familiar Wright Puslar 2s which recently came up from Birkenhead!

This particular bus is rather familiar to me as it used to run quite often on the 410/411/414 Services operated by Arriva North West, we recently received on loan from the North East some Wright Streetlite Door Forward buses to replace our aging Puslar 2s. Another operator I had noticed was Stagecoach providing the majority of local buses around Middlesbrough and to Stockton as well!
The main choice of vehicle was Enviro 300s and some older buses such as the Alexander Dennis ALX 200 It was nice to see this unit in service still being from 2006 probably one of the oldest buses in Stagecoachs fleet! I also sore some classic Enviro 300 Buses as well operated by Stagecoach. We managed to take a ride on one towards Stockton which I felt a tad uncomfortable!

As well as the stagecoach and reasonable services I noticed that there was some coach services operated by national express and also I believe FlixBus operates here in Middlesborough bus station towards places like Edinburgh of course Newcastle and various other cities like Hull. I find it quite interesting exploring various different bus stations around the country. This is part of a small series that I’m doing just gathering photographs of various operators services coming in and out of various different bus stations around the country.

One thing I did notice was a lack of independent bus operators like we have in Merseyside and also in Glasgow, I feel that the monopoly of Arriva & Stagecoach has somewhat undercut other smaller operators just like they’ve done in Liverpool and indeed in Birkenhead! I do hope you’re enjoying this series where I visit random bus stations and documenting the comings and going’s of different services.
One final rather interesting bus is this Optare Solo, operated by Arriva in the North East, this bus is registered YJ11 OHY 2863 and is operating the X3 to Lingdale via Skelton, I’ve not been on this route but I do rather like these smaller Optare Solos from the early 2000s and early 2010s before they introduced the Optare Solos SR

Thanks for reading this far, I’m hoping to be documenting services around Liverpool One bus station next in Liverpool! Do let me know if your enjoying the blog and the posts like this seeing the comings and going’s from different Bus Stations!
