In this third instalment from Glasgow, I visit stations on the well-known Paisley Canal line. Originally a canal, it was converted into a railway line branching off from the mainline at Glasgow Central, heading towards Paisley. However, our first station will be Mosspark.

Starting from Mosspark, I travel towards Glasgow Central and disembark at Corkerhill Station. Most of the stations, except for Dunbreck, which you’ll see later in the post, have single platforms rather than double tracks. The line is electrified and was among the first to be electrified as part of an ongoing effort to electrify the lines around Glasgow, similar to the recent electrification of the East Kilbride line.
From Cookerhill Station, I head to Crookston again, another island platform, though this time on the left side of the line rather than the right. One thing I like about these single-track branch lines is that the platforms can appear on either side of the line, depending on the road or entrances towards the station.

From here, I make my way to Dumbreck Station before heading to Hawkhead. On the day of this adventure, I encountered a slight issue: I lost the Roundabout ticket I had purchased the day before for £7.40. This ticket allows me to cover many stations around the Glasgow area, similar to the Merseyside Day Saver, which is priced at £6.40.
However, like some of the other branch lines I have visited in this series, it is quite short, with only five intermediate stations, as I mentioned earlier, we are heading to Dumbreck Station, where I end up having to finish the day early before returning to Whitecraigs that evening.

Finally, we arrive at our last station, Paisley Canal, which is also single-platformed. The line once extended further but now terminates here. I recall visiting this station in 2019 when I took the final Class 314 train operated by Scotrail. This train had been in service since the late 1970s before being withdrawn in December 2019.

And I have finally arrived at Paisley Canal, this is where the line terminates and as you can see I had a fairly short turnaround before heading back to Glasgow Central, I was then going to do some more stations however I ended up taking a break and having a ride on the famous Glasgow Subway which I was going to do a more detailed Blog Post on!
However, I remembered that I have already written one about the System, which you can read all about here. This was one of my earlier posts on this blog before I took a break due to a breakup earlier this year. I am now finally back and enjoying the blog once again. I have one more post to write about from my time in Glasgow, so please look forward to that.
