In this post, I am visiting stations between Hunts Cross & Liverpool Central, this was once originally part oft he Cheshire lines Committee between Liverpool Central, Warrington and on to Manchester, the line now terminates at Hunts Cross, however the CLC line continues through to Warrington with Mossley Hill & West Allerton station’s now part of what is now the main line. I started at Hunts Cross and boarded my first train towards Liverpool South Parkway which is our first stop today.

From South Parkway, I took my train towards Liverpool Cenrtal, the next stop would be Cressington station which is one of my favourite stations on the entire network, the station opened in 1864 between Brunswick (Old Station) & Warrington Central as part of the original CLC (Cheshire Lines Committee) as I mentioned earlier, the line now starts at Liverpool Lime Street & Continues through to Warrington via Mossley Hill & West Allerton before joining the original CLC Line. From Cressington, I would then take my next Train to Aigburth station.

Aigburth is another interesting station as these stations all opened roughly in the same year of 1864, the line was extended in 1874 towards Liverpool Central however the mainline terminus station is now completely gone and replaced with an underground station however the low level platforms from the original station still remain and is now part of the Northern line. Aigburth & Cressington Stations are very similar in design, Aigburth is also gaining step free access to which is a nice touch.

From Aigburth, I then headed towards St Michaels which gained lifts back in 2022 with Aigburth now getting lift access, this is another step closer to having a fully accessible network with the 777s being level with the Platform, it makes life easier for those who aren’t able bodied. I rather like the stations along this line as they remind me of the past and what it would have been like when they originally opened in the 1860s by the CLC. From St Michaels I then headed towards my penultimate railway station of Brunswick, this is a fairly new station opening in 1998.

Finally arriving at Liverpool Central, the end of the line for me however I will be continuing towards Headbolt Lane, Ormskirk & Southport in future posts along side my Merseyside series over on my YouTube & TikTok pages. I had a lovely day out filming, photographing stations & just being out on the trains with the air conditioning has been a welcome retreat from the heat of the summer sun.
